bts dslrguide
To celebrate reaching 10,000 subscribers I thought I’d show you what goes into making an episode of DSLRguide – there should be lots of filmmaking tips along the way.

A lot has changed since I last did a DSLRguide behind the scenes. Back then, I was making product reviews every week, and I knew nothing about lighting let alone storytelling! I’ve had a number of requests to make this episode, so hopefully it’s a nice way to celebrate the subscriber milestone. For those of you reading this post, I’d like to reiterate just how grateful I am for your support over the first 100 videos. I honestly didn’t think that it was possible to find a group of people who are so encouraging and supportive on YouTube.

Filmmaker, and host of DSLRguide. Since I was making my first film age 11, I have always been fascinated by the way films are produced, and the effect it can have on the audience.

I am TechMan Yeah on Youtube. Just seen today’s great video. Well done for hitting your milestone and keep the videos coming. Your knowledge is amazing and my birthday is on Monday when I will be 12. I love making videos and wish I knew as much as you. Thanks for the amazing advice and I can’t wait to see your next video.

    • Thanks TechMan! The fact that you are learning lots before you’re 12 is a great sign – you will have a big head start on many people. Imagine how much you will know when you’re 18! Keep learning :)

Really like your videos and how you present. Just great. I especially liked this latest BTS show – a real eye opener for me. I am a photographer of many years (over 40) and am getting ready to dive into the video world soon with my A7r and A7s. Thank you!

    • thanks, that really means a lot to me! Photography provides a nice foundation for filmmaking, so i’m sure you’ll do great!

  • Its great to see how you go about making videos. How did you do the intro graphics to DRLR Guide?

    • i’m glad you liked the video! I used the free graphics program ‘GIMP’ to make the text, images and background, and then brought them into an Apple Motion 5 project. I had the camera move around to reveal the images!
