short film blog

What I learned from spending four days filming a short film.

This behind the scenes follows a fairly typical process for filming a shot:

  1. Walkthrough with key collaborators
  2. Set up camera (roughly)
  3. Walkthrough with Actors
  4. Lighting
  5. Go for a take
  6. Performance notes for actors
  7. Tweak blocking (movement, positions, camera placement)
  8. Repeat 5-7 until you’ve got what you need.
